Alumni Weekend 2026: Learn, Connect, Lead
Title: Do You See What I See? How to Self-Audit Before Someone Else Does
Date / Time: October 23, 2026 / 12:30-2:30pm
Instructor: Colleen G. Auchenbach, DC, CPCO, CPMA
Sponsored by: ChiroTouch
Course Description:
Accurate documentation and coding are not just best practices – they are a critical safeguard for your clinic’s financial health and professional integrity. In today’s regulatory environment, even seemingly minor errors can be flagged as fraud or abuse by government and private payers, leading to audits, penalties, and costly recoupments.
Have you looked? Many providers continue to think if they are getting paid, then what they are coding and submitting for payment is being blessed by the third-party payers. Unfortunately, that is not the case and far too often practices find out the reality of what they don’t know the hard way. In addition, not all record requests are created equal, and it is important to understand what you are looking at when you receive a request letter.
With clear guidelines and educational resources readily available, repeated mistakes are no longer excusable. This course will explore how proactive auditing can help you identify and correct documentation and coding issues before they attract unwanted attention. You’ll learn to recognize common red flags, implement effective monitoring strategies, and protect your practice from compliance risks.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify areas where risks occur
- Utilize the components of self-auditing
- Demonstrate how to self-audit for compliance purposes
- Implement proactive steps to identify and address risks
- Distinguish between the various types of records requests and how to respond accordingly
- Develop an action list to lower your risk and be audit ready

Date / Time: October 23, 2026 / 12:30-2:30pm
Instructor: Crystal Misenheimer, BBA, CBI
Sponsored by: NCMIC
Course Description:
Most chiropractors don’t realize these truths until it’s too late: 1) a successful practice does not automatically translate into a successful exit, and 2) the decisions you make years before you exit your practice ultimately determine your outcome. In this live webinar led by Crystal Misenheimer, CBI, CM&AP, co-founder of Progressive Practice Sales and a nationally recognized expert in chiropractic practice sales and valuations, you’ll gain insight drawn from 300+ real-world transactions, 1,000+ practice valuations, and over a decade of guiding chiropractors through successful transitions. This session breaks down exit planning into a clear, actionable timeline as you learn what to do (and what to avoid) 10, 5, 3, and 1 year before retirement. You’ll develop a deeper understanding of practice value vs. salability, the hidden risks that can derail a transition, and how to protect your patients, your team, and your legacy. Whether you plan to sell soon or simply want to keep your options open, this course will help you move from uncertainty to strategy with confidence.
Learning Objectives:
- Define the four ethical principles (autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice) and apply them to chiropractic practice transition scenarios.
- Identify common patient care risks associated with practice transitions, including gaps in care and inadequate provider handoffs, and evaluate strategies to maintain continuity of care.
- Evaluate real-world transition scenarios to determine ethically appropriate decision-making that prioritizes patient safety and professional integrity.
- Evaluate their current practice structure (financials, staffing, operations) to determine strengths and risks related to future sale readiness.
- Apply a timeline-based framework to prioritize key actions 10, 5, 3, and 1 year(s) prior to retirement.

Title: HIPAA, Security, and AI in Chiropractic Practice: What’s Current, What’s Proposed, What’s Next
Date / Time: October 24, 2026 / 11:00am-1:00pm
Instructor: Evan Gwilliam, DC, MBA, QCC, CPC, CCPC, CPMA, CPCO, AAPC Fellow
Sponsored by: NCMIC
Course Description:
Cybersecurity expectations are increasing, AI tools are entering clinical workflows, and HIPAA enforcement continues to focus on the same operational weak points: risk analysis, access controls, vendor oversight, and incident response. This session separates what is currently required under HIPAA from what has been proposed in recent federal rulemaking, helping providers understand where expectations are heading without confusing proposals for mandates. Instructor: Evan Gwilliam, DC, MBA, QCC, CPC, CCPC, CPMA, CPCO, AAPC Fellow
Sponsored by: NCMIC
Course Description:
While policy discussions often focus on future changes, most audit risk still comes from the same core issues: unclear medical necessity, weak documentation, and coding that does not match the clinical story. This session focuses on the documentation and billing principles that continue to drive Medicare and third-party audit outcomes, while also addressing broader trends such as encounter-linked diagnoses, automated review systems, and Medicare Advantage oversight. Attendees will learn how to build defensible records, recognize common audit triggers, and implement simple internal monitoring strategies that demonstrate an effective compliance program.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the core documentation and billing principles that drive Medicare and third-party audit outcomes.
- Analyze common chiropractic documentation deficiencies and audit triggers to improve the accuracy of clinical records.
- Explain the impact of Medicare Advantage trends, specifically encounter-linked diagnoses and documentation integrity, on practice audits.
- Apply OIG compliance expectations by transitioning from written policies to demonstrating program effectiveness.
- Develop and implement internal audit and compliance "stress testing" strategies to monitor and improve documentation quality.
Title: The Essential Role of Whole Food Nutrition in today’s Healthcare Environment
Date / Time: October 24, 2026 / 11:00am-1:00pm
Instructor: William G. Hemmer, DC
Sponsored by: Standard Process
Course Description:
In an era where access to food has never been greater yet micronutrient deficiencies continue to affect over two billion people globally, healthcare providers face a critical paradox. This comprehensive presentation examines the essential—and often overlooked—role whole food nutrition plays in achieving optimal patient outcomes within practice. Drawing on the latest research from 2025-2026, including landmark findings on ultra-processed food consumption, declining agricultural nutrient density, and the emerging science of nutrient synergy, participants will gain evidence-based insights into why whole food approaches dramatically outperform isolated synthetic supplementation.
The session bridges nutritional biochemistry with clinical application, exploring how modern farming practices have created a “hidden hunger” even among well-fed populations, and why the complexity of nutrients in their natural food matrix—complete with synergistic cofactors, enzymes, and phytonutrients—is critical for bioavailability and therapeutic effect. Healthcare providers will learn practical strategies for integrating nutritional assessment and whole food supplementation into patient management protocols, particularly for addressing chronic inflammation, supporting tissue repair, and managing the underlying drivers of chronic disease. This presentation provides actionable frameworks for implementation, patient education techniques to enhance compliance, and documentation approaches that demonstrate clinical value—positioning nutrition as an indispensable component of contemporary care.
Learning Objectives:
- The Modern Malnutrition Paradox
- Nutrient Synergy: Why Isolated Compounds Fail
- The Agricultural Crisis Affecting Patient Health
- Nutrition as Anti-Inflammatory Support in Patient Care
- The Farming-to-Clinical Integrity Chain
- Practical Integration: Building a Nutrition-Enhanced Practice
