The College’s Fall 2022 Commencement Ceremony was held on Dec. 3 in the campus’s Standard Process Health and Fitness Center and honored 60 doctor of chiropractic students and 16 students completing their studies in the Bachelor of Professional Studies program.

Keynote speaker Dr. Michele Maiers, president of the American Chiropractic Association, addressed the audience. ”Family and friends, it is an absolute privilege to share in your joy today,” Maiers said as she recognized those who have supported the Fall 2022 graduates in their educational journey.

To the graduates, Maiers continued, “Your education at Northeast has prepared you for success in ways that you likely won’t fully realize for some time. So, whether you feel in it your core yet or not, you’re ready for this new role as a doctor of chiropractic, and you have the tools you need to fulfill your covenant of trust with the public.”

On Dec. 1, seventh-trimester chiropractic students received their white clinical lab coats during the Fall 2022 Transitions Ceremony. The on-campus event honors students who successfully complete the requirements and will begin their clinical education at one of the College’s health centers across New York state.

These 58 new student-clerks will provide hands-on patient under the mentorship of Northeast College faculty clinicians in a variety of healthcare settings during clinical rotations across the U.S. and in Canada.

Awards for achievements in academic and clinical excellence were presented to students and keynote speaker and Northeast alumna Ashley Williams (D.C. ’20) spoke about the importance of pursing excellence in not only adjusting and diagnosing, but also in delivering compassion-based care. "Actions in compassion yield more compassion," Williams said. "It's the only way to move forward together."

During the commencement ceremony, Northeast proudly presented longtime Finger Lakes region photographer Neil Sjoblom with an award of recognition and gratitude for his 30 years of dedication and work capturing events for the College.

When the College moved to Seneca Falls more, 30 years ago they hired Sjoblom as a contract photographer. He has been capturing College special events, including commencement ceremonies, and taking the official photographs of the Board of Trustees ever since. Thankful for the work Sjoblom has done to help document the College’s history, Northeast College President Dr. Michael Mestan presented him the Recognition of Excellence award during the recent Fall 2022 Commencement ceremony. “Thank you for your professionalism and patience; you are such a talented photographer, and we are honored to have you cover all of our important events,” Mestan said. “Through your skillful lens, you have made a positive impact on our College and community.”
