Dr Michael Mestan receiving the June 2022 Business of the month award

The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce and CFCU Community Credit Union have recognized Northeast College of Health Sciences as the June 2022 Business of the Month.

"Northeast College of Health Sciences is now 103 years old and is celebrating its first anniversary under its new name and over 30 years since its relocation to Seneca Falls," said Megan Slater, membership development manager at the Chamber. "Exciting things are happening at Northeast College, and we are thrilled to award this community player as our June Business of the Month."

In addition to offering services, classes, and amenities through its affiliate health centers and fitness center, Northeast College of Health Sciences provides jobs to over 200 full- and part-time employees and enrolled 689 students in its various programs in the last academic year. As an example of Northeast College's dedication to the community, 100% of the doctor of chiropractic students participate in community service as a required part of their graduate study.

Employees are also committed to giving back to the community they call home. Involvement in the last year has included volunteering with and providing support to groups such as the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity of Seneca County, Seneca County United Way, Seneca County House of Concern, and a number of community sporting events where students and faculty clinicians provided free chiropractic care.

"We're proud to be a part of the Finger Lakes region's ongoing growth and success," said Colleen Brennan-Barry, vice president of Marketing and Communications. "We're particularly pleased to be a strong contributor to the area's fiscal health: the economic impact of Northeast College of Health Sciences on the local and state economy has been valued at nearly $65 million, according to a 2021 report by The Commission on Independent Colleges & Universities in New York (CICU). Community members who have visited our beautiful 286-acre campus will note a number of new initiatives such as updated Northeast College signage, the establishment of a new campus clock and green-space plaza, and the realization of our ongoing afforestation project, which has already seen the installation of 870 trees, 380 shrubs and 160 meadow plantings -- with more to come.

Brennan-Barry continued, "As well, Northeast College is pursuing new collaborations and opportunities. Even as we continue to pursue excellence through our outstanding Doctor of Chiropractic program and online M.S. programs in applied clinical nutrition and human anatomy and physiology instruction, there are a number of new academic opportunities being explored at the College such as programs in imaging sciences, physicians assistance, and healthcare administration."
