Northeast’s Levittown Health Center Event Supports Service Members, 20+ Local Organizations Attend
Northeast College of Health Sciences’ Levittown Health Center hosted Services for Those Who Serve/Served, a new outreach event for members of the U.S. military, Veterans and their families, on May 10, 2025. Held on the College’s Long Island Campus, the free event welcomed nearly 30 organizations from Nassau and Suffolk counties that provide support and resources to service members.
Partnering with The Massage Approach to organize the event, Levittown Health Center faculty, staff and chiropractic student clerks offered complimentary healthcare screenings and evaluations, also sharing wellness advice and tips, including nutritional counseling, chiropractic care and massage therapy – all services provided at the health center.
"As we prepare to honor Veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country this Memorial Day, we wanted to celebrate our local active military members, veterans, and first responders who have contributed so much to our communities,” said Daryon Ray, assistant dean of clinical education at the Northeast College Levittown Health Center. “This event was our way of expressing gratitude for their service and connecting them with resources dedicated to their health and wellbeing.”
Strong Community Support for Service Members on Long Island
Also at the event were support personnel from the Association for Mental Health and Wellness, the Feinbery Division of the Unified Behavioral Health Center for Military Veterans and their Families, Levittown VFW, Nassau VET Center, Northport VA suicide prevention, Paws of War, PFC Dwyer Peer Support Project, Services for the Underserved, Supportive Services for Veteran Families, Veteran Services Agency and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Representatives were also on hand from the Wounded Warrior Project, Be Well New York Acupuncture, Bridge Back to Life Center, CN Guidance & Counseling Services, Community Minds, Nassau Community College, The New York State Defenders Association and VetSuccess on Campus.
“There are so many great organizations that support our service members here on Long Island. Hosting this event at the Levittown Health Center was a great way to continue the College’s journey in supporting service members and Veterans,” said Ray.
Northeast College Developed First VA Chiropractic Residency, Provides Chiropractic Care to Vets
Northeast College of Health Sciences, with campuses in New York’s Finger Lakes region and on Long Island, has a long history of working to improve access to healthcare for Veterans and has partnered with the VA for nearly two decades. In 2012, the College paved the way for even more opportunities to provide care to Veterans with the first-ever VA chiropractic residency program.
Northeast has affiliations with more than 10 VA medical centers to provide healthcare services, and each site also has a Northeast-affiliated clinical faculty member. Hundreds of Northeast students have attended clinical rotations at the College’s partnering VA medical centers, providing thousands of chiropractic adjustments to Veterans.
“The College is dedicated to enhancing healthcare opportunities for Veterans and active military service members here on our Long Island Campus and our Seneca Falls Campus. We also work diligently to train future healthcare professionals to provide care with compassion and dignity," Ray said.
